The Space Race refers to 20th centuries competition between Soviet Union and the United Stated. It was considered important because it made every developed country realized how important space exploration would be in the future. lcome to your blog post. The Space Race began on August 2, 1955. The two-major group, United Stated and the Soviet Union, tried to build ballistic missiles which could be used to launch rockets into space. In addition, the Soviet Union announced that they would launch satellites in the near future four days earlier than the United Stated. The Soviet Union beat the United Stated not only they launch Sputnik 1, which was the first artificial Earth satellite, into low Earth orbit in 1957, but they also sent the first human to journey into outer space. Fearful of Soviet military control the space, the United Stated quickly invested a lot of money and time to avoid losing the competition. From 1950 to 1970, the Space Race was growing rapidly in America and Russia.
Both were afraid of being attacking by each other because of treatment of nuclear weapons. It was a very nervous time which made every country be under nuclear crisis, but it was an honorable time for technology improvement.
In NASA, everything seemed to be possible because most of geniuses in the world had been working together. Any small error was capable of making serious danger in space. Those scientists did their best to create new method to reduce unknown risk, and they repeated complex simulation tests to verify device’s reliability. Some technology finally applied on our daily life like microwave oven and we are benefited those convenient investments. We, Zero, follow this sprit to design our space shuttles and to build our space bases. So, I remembered the moment of finding out successful solutions especially after a sequence of brainstorming. When I felt exhausted, I would like to stay in our showroom to see those photos all night and those memory was made me had more powerful belief to overcome next difficult stage. I understood why Neil Armstrong said,
“That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”
because the moment deeply touched his heart.
However, no matter which sides won the competition, we witness the creation of new, cutting-edge technology for the Space Race. Until now, it still has influenced numerous things and changed our life.
